The most notable improvements in Claude Opus 4.7 are in three areas. First, coding performance jumped significantly — SWE-bench Verified score climbed from 80.8% to 87.6% and CursorBench hit 70% up from 58%. Second, vision capability saw a massive upgrade — maximum image resolution tripled from 1.15 megapixels to 3.75 megapixels, meaning Claude can now analyse full-quality screenshots, dense diagrams and documents with real accuracy. Third, instruction following is now much more precise — where Opus 4.6 would sometimes generalise or skip steps, Opus 4.7 follows instructions literally and carefully.
Anthropic introduced several new features alongside Opus 4.7. A new effort level called “xhigh” sits between high and max, giving developers finer control over how hard the model thinks before responding. Task budgets are also new — a way to give Claude a token target for a full agentic loop so it can prioritise and finish work gracefully. Inside Claude Code, a new /ultrareview command simulates a senior human code reviewer, catching subtle logic flaws that standard reviews miss.
Claude Opus 4.7 narrowly leads OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 and Google’s Gemini 3.1 Pro on agentic coding, scaled tool use, and financial analysis benchmarks. However the gap is closing — on directly comparable tests Opus 4.7 leads GPT-5.4 by just a slim margin. One area where it falls short is Terminal-Bench 2.0, where GPT-5.4 scores 75.1% versus Opus 4.7’s 69.4%.
Claude Opus 4.7 is the first Claude model to ship with automated detection and blocking for prohibited cybersecurity uses. Security researchers who need access for legitimate purposes must apply through Anthropic’s formal verification programme. Anthropic’s more powerful Mythos model remains restricted to a small group of enterprise partners as part of Project Glasswing.
Claude Opus 4.7 is available right now on Claude.ai for Pro and Max subscribers, through the Anthropic API, and on all major cloud platforms. GitHub Copilot Pro+, Business and Enterprise users can also access it through the model picker.
